Deliberately primitive, Hoddinott’s paintings emit a raucous howl of emotions and a cutting sense of social concern. One is immediately seduced by her unique colouration, naive composition and primitive structure, yet these paintings are worthy of long contemplation and thought.

The allegorical nature of Tanya Hoddinoft's energetic paintings, stem from her involvement with the RAW group during the early nineties. Since then Hoddinott's distinct style has developed into an autobiographical representation of emotional and physical land-scapes, drawing on influences as diverse as the oceanic primitifs to Jean Michel Basquiat.
